St. Thomas
On St. Thomas Island of the U.S. Virgin Islands, all the resort hotels are clean, very spacious, and amazingly comfortable in every respect. Oh, yes—and they are known around the world for their excellent service and friendly courtesy. Naturally, that sort of service and efficiency is what you’d expect from someplace so beautiful as St. Thomas that you have to call it a paradise—it really is a paradise, in every way!
After soaking in the luxurious furniture and marvelous service, you next will notice the amazing variety of food at all the hotels. You’ll never be disappointed in the variety or the quality of the food because the cooks or chefs are great, too, which you’d expect at such a world-class vacation paradise. Usually, you can order anything you want: lobster or sushi, Peking Duck or barbecued ribs, hamburger or steak, hot dogs or sweet and sour pork, escargot or French fries, Brussel sprouts or kimchi, apple pie or baked Alaska, and crème brûlée or just plain old ice cream. (You might not find all those food choices in any one dining room, but at one hotel or another on St. Thomas you’ll find what you’re looking for, since all dining rooms do tend to specialize just a bit.)
Every hotel has a breathtaking, Fantasyland view of the ocean, just as you’d expect, too, whether a hotel is on the beach or a little inland. And whether in a hotel or outside, everywhere you go on St. Thomas Island you’ll find the sea-pure air so exhilarating you’ll feel as if you’re constantly on Cloud Nine.
The St. Thomas world map layout, above, shows where St. Thomas Island of the U.S. Virgin Islands is in relation to the rest of the United States, just east of Florida and down a little, to the right or east of Puerto Rico.
St. Thomas has been a place for huge contrasts. For instance, the Spaniards started out in the 1500s growing sugar cane and producing sugar with slave labor, there. And now the sugar it produces is just the visual and scenic delight of tourists, a more modern kind of harmless ‘sugar.’ Then there’s green Crown Mountain at 1,556 feet high versus the flat, white-sand beaches being lapped by crystal clear, azure water.
In fact, St. Thomas has an almost continuous mountain range running the interior length of its thirteen miles. The several roads around the thirty-two square mile island are mainly on the seaside of the mountain range, offering terrific panoramic views of the island and ocean.
Inland and along the beaches of St. Thomas you will find an assortment of accommodations: historic inns, resort hotels, vacation homes, guest houses, villas, and condos.
If you love water sports and activities, you’ll find St. Thomas to be a water lover’s paradise: snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing, day chartering of boats, kite boarding, sailing, fishing, kayaking, and para-sailing. On land, you can play golf, take an island tour, check out some attractions, take in the historical sites downtown and do some shopping. In the evenings, you can enjoy Happy Hour at bars or restaurants, live music, and sumptuous dinners with an enthralling view of some of the clearest, cleanest, most colorful seaside scenes in the world.

Okay, so I guess you’re wondering, “Yeah, that’s interesting, sort of. But what I’m really keen to find out is what the weather can be expected to be in either the Spring or in the Fall—you know, April-May and October-November.

Let me try anticipating you, again, about your interest in the rainfall on the island—
On St. Thomas Island, the rainfall on most days is below one tenth of an inch, and rain showers are often short and usually occur early in the morning or late in the night. On an actually rainy day, it will rain off and on for the entire day. All-day downpours over two or more days are not common. The driest months are typically February and March, and the wettest months are August, September, October, and November.
Overall, the weather is usually sunny, not too hot, and never cold, with occasional brief showers.
Sounds like paradise, doesn’t it? Well, it IS!!!
